Shama Nimkar

A spunky go-getter who is persuasive, adventurous and organized with a sense of clinical precision, Shama Nimkar hails from Mumbai. She has several accomplishments to her credit, including a state-level swimming title, a stint with Artists At Work and completion of 5 levels of London Trinity School examinations at the Jehangir School of Speech and Drama. She attempted to infuse her non-academic activities with social interest by working with a school for the mentally
challenged and also volunteering for 'Antarchakshu' a fest catering to the visually impaired.

She believes that feminism has been misunderstood to mean female superiority when, in fact it is just another name for equality of the sexes.

While one has heard of the more mainstream majors such as Economics and English Literature, Shama chose to graduate with a degree in a rather offbeat subject such as Ancient Indian Culture from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Her knowledge in this area will help her stand in good stead with respect to reportage in matters concerning our heritage. She wishes to use the same in her pursuit of a career in lifestyle journalism.
