Timothy Franklyn

Timothy Franklyn is the founder of the National School of Journalism and Public Discourse, Bengaluru (NSoJ). He is an international capital markets lawyer having worked at the global law firms Jones Day, Allen & Overy and DLA Piper. He is currently partner at Tatva Legal Bangaluru, and is an Obama Scholar and BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt Responsible Leader.

Susheela Rivers

NSoJ Law
Susheela Rivers is a Partner at the global law firm, DLA Piper. She is the Global Co-Chair of the firm's Real Estate Sector. She is also the Office Managing Partner, Hong Kong. She is also Global Co-Chair of the DLA Piper Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW), in which she supports gender balance at all levels by strengthening the influence, leadership and voice of women both within the firm and the wider community.

Graeme Simpson

Advisory Board, NSoJ Law | Graeme Simpson is the director of Interpeace USA and senior adviser to the Director-General of Interpeace, a global peace-building organization headquartered in Geneva working in 20 conflict and immediate post-conflict zones around the world. Graeme is also adjunct faculty member at Columbia Law School.

Kirsten Brosbøl

Kirsten Brosbøl is a former Minister of Environment and Member of Parliament of Denmark. She is also Chairperson and Co-Founder of The Political Academy, and the Founder and CEO of 2030beyond.

Francesca Folda is an Italian award-winning journalist and executive manager. She was formerly the Editor in Chief of Sky.it (Sky Italia), and Global Communications Director, Amani Institute. She also teaches at the Walter Tobagi School of Journalism - University of Milan

ASHISH SEN

Ashish Sen is currently Editor of Community Radio News, a journal brought out tri-annually by the UNESCO Chair on Community Media, and an adviser with RadioActive, Bangalores first community radio station. He is also founder President of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) Asia-Pacific region, he has been actively associated with the movement since its inception in India.

Aditya Sondhi

Dr. Aditya Sondhi is Chairperson of NSoJ Law's advisory board. Dr. Sondhi is a designated Senior Advocate practising before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Karnataka. He has served as Additional Advocate General for Karnataka and has taught and lectured widely.

FRANKLYN JAMES

Franklyn James is a newspaper veteran, having served as Vice President of The Times of India responsible for South India editions, and Senior Advisor of The Hindu Group. He is the principal architect of the success of The Times of India’s penetration and dominance in South India.

Bill Grueskin

Bill Grueskin is a professor at Columbia Journalism School, where he served for six years as Academic Dean. He was formerly Deputy Managing Editor of the Wall Street Journal and Executive Editor of Bloomberg.

Dr. Abraham Ebenezer

Dr. Ebenezer is an award winning leader in the field of education. He was for many years the Principal of Bishop Cotton Boys' School before founding Ebenezer International School. He previously served as Secretary of the Federation of Universities and College Teachers Association and as Director of the Department of Collegiate Education for the State of Karnataka.

Prof. Julien Laurent Chaisse

Julien Chaisse, a professor at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) School of Law, is an award-winning expert in international economic law, international dispute resolution, and digital law. Dr. Chaisse is a Stanford University top 2% highly cited scientist in 2023. He holds academic editorial leadership as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of World Investment & Trade and the Asia Pacific Law Review, and shares his expertise through “The Global Lawyer,” a bimonthly column in the Financial Times’ fDI Intelligence Magazine.

Thomas Asher

Tom Asher is the Director of Research and Engagement at Columbia World Projects at Columbia University in the City of New York. He was also Senior Fellow in the Office of Management and Budget at the White House, where he executed US President Biden’s priority for advancing racial equity.

Newsroom training

Your on-the-job training begins early in the academic year. You will be allowed to try your hand at all forms of media before being tested for aptitude and choosing a specialisation that can only result in a successful career. Pedagogy is designed to factor in the rigours of news gathering from the field; developing a nose for news; production and a strong grounding in ethics.

Beat specialisations

We will shape your perspectives on events and issues that matter, locally, nationally and globally. The areas of special interest at NSoJ are Politics and Society, Business and Finance, and Arts and Culture. You can choose to specialise in one of these areas for your beat. Politicians, bureaucrats, captains of industry, social workers, artists, actors, musicians, chefs, travel gurus and sports personalities will lecture and interact with you.

You will be grounded in the fundamentals of journalism, law and ethics to prepare you for a credible, responsible and solid career in journalism.

Live News Portal

You will work on a live news portal and develop skills to produce news videos, blogs, news features, reviews, opinion pieces, in-depth analyses and podcasts, etc.
